Jim and Angela Thompson

Aviation has held particular interest for Jim and Angela Thompson for many years. They began supporting aviation through their family foundation about six years ago. Through their philanthropic experiences, they concluded that a foundation focused on connecting young students with aviation could yield efficient and satisfactory outcomes for students, donors, schools and organizations.

Jim few his first solo flight in a glider when he was 14 years old, and Angela was introduced to aviation by her father, who was a mechanical engineer for Bell Helicopter. Together, Jim and Angela’s passion for aviation thrives, and they are excited to foster a love of flying in students as well.

Jim is President and CEO of Preston Hollow Capital, the former President and Chief Executive Officer of ORIX USA. Jim serves on the board of ORIX Foundation, which provides basic needs to children and families in the communities where ORIX USA employees live and work. Other board memberships include Angel Flight South Central, AOPA Board of Advisors, Dallas CASA.  Past board memberships include World Craniofacial Foundation and The Family Place.

Angela is a healthcare professional who has experienced the needs of medically fragile children and adults first-hand. She is an advocate for several organizations, such as the American Occupational Therapy Foundation, which works to raise public awareness of the importance of enabling individuals to participate fully in life, and The Smile Train, which provides life-changing medical services to children in need.
